Robert L. Ogle, 81, a resident of Kenosha, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 24,
2015, in Tampa, Florida. Robert was born on Feb. 5, 1934, in Milwaukee to the
late John and Lillian (nee Hay) Ogle. He attended local schools and
graduated from Kenosha High School in 1952. He was a member of the
1951-1952 Kenosha High School Football Championship team. Robert went on
to play football for the Fresno State Bulldogs after graduation. In 1954,
he joined the United States Army, stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. He was an
instructor of artillery and small arms, achieving the rank of Sergeant.
On
July 1, 1954, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life
Joan Frederick. Together they managed Roosevelt Lanes. Robert served the
bowling community of Kenosha as an establishment owner, bowler,
President of the Men’s Bowling Association, Board member for 19 years
and in 2011 he was inducted into the Men’s Bowling Association of
Kenosha Hall of Fame. Robert worked as an electrician. He was employed
by Pieper Power in Milwaukee, American Motors Corporation and retired
from Chrysler Corporation in 1985. He continued to work for Maurer
Electric until 2000. Bob was passionate about volunteering and giving
back to others. He was a member of the Moose Club, Elks Club, Danish
Brotherhood, North Side Happy Hour Club, American Legion, the Kenosha
Yacht Club and Union Local 72. In addition to volunteering with these
organizations, he also volunteered with the KYF Barracudas, Band
Boosters, St. Mary’s Lutheran Church, and Our Savior Lutheran Church of
Tampa, Fla. Bob never met a stranger and seemed to run into someone he
knew no matter how far from home he was. He enjoyed traveling and taking
numerous cruises throughout the Caribbean. He spent many weekends
boating with his family and friends on local lakes.
Robert is survived by his children, Sandra Danyluk of Tampa, Fla., Debra
(Jeffrey) Ogle-Barton of Newark, Del., and Barbara Ogle of Clover, S.C.,
Robert Ogle of Antioch, Ill.; grandson, Andrew Ballman of Clover, S.C.,
Natalie and Jeffrey Barton; sister-in-law Mary Ogle; a nephew Tom Ogle;
niece Lisa Ogle; and one spoiled cat “Jack.”
Robert was preceded in death by his wife Joan; a brother John Ogle; his
parents John and Lillian Ogle (nee Hay); in-laws, John and Mildred
Frederick (nee Hansen); and son-in-law John Louie Danyluk. Friends and
family are invited to a celebration of Robert’s life Sunday, July 17,
2016, at the Kemper Center. The Service will begin at 2 p.m. following
with full military honors. Friends may call on the family at the Kemper
Center until 6 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, a memorial scholarship fund in
Robert’s name is being established. Gifts may be made to the trustee -
Sandra Danyluk.
